Veg Box Newsletter 26/05/17

Morning Folks,

First of all, we might be enjoying the glorious weather, but the leafy greens in your veg box won’t be! We highly recommend that you get them in the fridge as soon as possible. If we usually leave your delivery outside, it might be worth investing in a cool box for us to leave your order in, especially if you have any dairy items being delivered.

The farm is starting to look like a market garden again, after being relatively bare through the winter. Now there are more young plants out in the fields every week and we can really see them growing faster. Of note, the fruits are forming in abundance on the black and redcurrants, and we’re seeing the start of the tomato fruits too. Our growers have been planting out onions, kale, lettuce and chard. They’ve been preparing the beds for the outdoor courgettes, and finished sowing the last of the courgettes and summer squash for this year.

At The Croft, the pizza oven is in construction and lots of lovely herbs that will go great with pizza are growing well. Patty pan squash has been planted out and the sweetcorn has been thoroughly enjoying the unseasonably hot weather!

For those of you who receive milk, it’ll be Grahams this week due a minor fridge malfunction. We’ll back to Mossgiel as usual next week.

As we’ve reached the fourth Friday of the month, we’re delivering treat boxes. There’s a choice of sweet or savoury, both are £20 and are filled with a delicious selection from our shop range.

The Open Food Network is now open for you to order groceries to be delivered with your veg box next week. Orders close at 11pm on Wednesday.
