Hello Folks,
With the cold winds blowing in over at our Left Field farm, we’ve got some green tomatoes that we’ve saved from the frost. You’ll find them in our Standard Supplementary veg bag. A delicacy all over the world, these green tomatoes feature in many recipes which you’ll find on our Veggiepedia. From chutney to curry we hope you’ll get creative in the kitchen and honour these sour siblings of the tomato!
Big beautiful heads of broccoli feature in all of this week’s veg boxes. These were grown by New Farm Organics down in Wrangle, Lincolnshire, who started farming in the 1700s and gained organic certification in 1988, though one of their two farms has not used pesticides or artificial pesticides since the 1800s! They’d be delightful chopped into florets, tossed with olive oil, crushed garlic, salt and pepper, roasted for 20 minutes and served as a side or as part of a warm salad.
Come and join us for a tour of Left Field Market Garden on our CSA Open Day this Saturday. Our growing team will take you round the site, where you can see where we grow our crops for our veg boxes, shop and wholesale orders, and learn about our organic growing techniques.
