Hello Folks,
Blood Oranges are beautiful (subjectively) and our Fruit 1 this week. They’re oranges with nutritious red streaks or fully red flesh. The red is anthocyanin which forms when they grow in warm days and cooler nights. Sometimes in disguise behind orange skins, or sometimes revealed with spots and splashes of red. This week we have the Tarocco variety which is quite indistinguishable, we’ve sampled them versus a fresh orange and found the blood orange a little more sour, juicy and refreshing. If you’ve had the Moro variety you might find they have a more complex flavour with character you might want to make gin with! Enjoy.
