Hello Folks,
The Good Food Fund was delighted to host a pop up dinner last week featuring some very talented cooks from one of our longest standing partners, the Roma Project at The Space (Govanhill). While they initially received veg boxes to take home, we have more recently been supplying their cooking group with ingredients. These ladies served up a delicious four course meal of traditional Romanian food made with organic seasonal ingredients. Your kind donations helped to make this event happen.
It’s
all new this week with new potatoes replacing our usual big spuds.
We’ve moved on completely from our usual roots so we expect you’ll
be re-assessing your meal plans. It might seem less value for money
as the other items are quite cheap and add weight to your veg boxes.
Please be assured that we do our best to keep prices low by reducing
our mark up at this time of year. Remember the other items are more
expensive due to their fantastic quality and the processes required
to harvest them. Perhaps if we keep eating organic, all prices will
go down!
In the large and extra large veg boxes this week we’ve got potted parsley. Pop it in a dish, water regularly so the soil is moist to the touch and empty the container after watering so the long roots don’t sit in water. If you like, you can feed the plant with organic fertiliser to keep the soil nutritious and the plant growing strong. To harvest small amounts, chop off the outer leaves or cut from the bottom of stem for larger amounts. See if you can make it last all the way through to winter!
