Covid-19 Updates

Although lockdown restrictions in Scotland are easing, the Covid-19 pandemic is still impacting our veg box deliveries. Keeping our staff and customers safe is our top priority, and we’ve made some adjustments to our services in order to do so. We’ll keep this page updated as things change, and will always announce these changes in our newsletter as well.

New Orders

We are currently closed to new customers, but there’s a waiting list here. Sign up and you’ll hear from us as soon as we have an open slot.

Opt-Out Lists

We are currently unable to offer opt-out lists, which usually allow subscribers to omit up to three items from veg boxes. We are running a smaller team in the packing shed at the moment in order to enable social distancing, and this means we don’t have the capacity to pack modified boxes. We’re aware that this is far from ideal, especially for those of you with allergies, and we are looking at how to reintroduce opt-out lists as soon as possible.

Monthly Specials

We’ve currently suspended our monthly specials boxes with the exception of meat boxes. This is to enable us to run a socially distanced packing shed, as above.

Drivers

All our drivers are equipped with gloves, masks, and hand sanitiser and have been instructed to use these while out on delivery. All the same, we recommend washing your hands after putting your veg away and folding up your box for next week, just to be extra careful. Our drivers will be leaving boxes outside your door and knocking, buzzing, or ringing for a contactless delivery.

Getting in Touch

At the moment, the admin team is working from home, with one person on-site from Tuesday-Friday. This makes answering the phone a bit trickier than normal, so while you’re welcome to give us a ring please don’t panic if we aren’t able to take your call. Try emailing us at subscribers@glasgowlocavore.org instead for a prompt response. You might also get a call from one of us on our personal phones while we’re working from home. If you get a call from a mobile number and aren’t sure if it’s us, you can always ask for an email confirming details instead.

Produce

Supply lines have improved a lot since March, but some things are still hard for us or our suppliers to get hold of. This primarily impacts our packaging- for example, our supplier is currently unable to source cardboard egg boxes so is using recycled plastic packaging as an alternative. It might also mean we need to source more veg that comes to us already packed in plastic than we would usually prefer. We hope that as supply lines continue to improve this will no longer be the case. We are working with new Scottish suppliers to keep our boxes full of fresh and delicious local produce.
